久しぶりに皮のヘッドの入浴（水）。

ヤフオクでお得なコンガヘッドが出ていた。CANOPUSのコンガヘッドが２４００円くらい。キントじゃなくてコンガの方。普通に買うとたぶん１万前後。

CANOPUSの自社製品なので安くできるのだと思う。CANOPUSのアカウントが出品している。

おそらく８０年代から一度も交換されていないと思われるパールのファイバーコンガのヘッドを交換しようと購入した。

４０年もたった皮のヘッドはどうなるかというと伸び縮みをしなくなる。キントの方の新しい皮は雨の日はゆるみ晴れた日は張るのだけど、古いコンガヘッドの方は変化があまりない。とっくに寿命だということだろう。

パールの初期のファイバーコンガは激安なんだけど、その理由はヘッドのサイズが現行と違うから。今回はなんとか合うかなと思ったけど、やはりスキンワイヤーが5ミリくらい足りない。

そこで我が家ではお馴染みの、水で戻して生皮を柔らかくして、スキンワイヤーを交換して取り付ける作戦に出る。非常にめんどくさい。

ヘッドを外したのでボディの拭き掃除を軽くやる。木製と違って、水分に強いのでこういうところは気楽だ。

It's been a while since I gave the leather head a bath (water).

I found a good deal on a conga head on Yahoo! Auctions. A CANOPUS conga head for about 2,400 yen. Not a Kinto, but a conga. If you buy it normally, it would probably cost around 10,000 yen.

I think it's cheap because it's a CANOPUS product. It's listed on a CANOPUS account.

I bought it to replace the head of a Pearl fiber conga that probably hasn't been replaced since the 80s.

What happens to a 40-year-old leather head is that it no longer stretches or shrinks. The new Kinto leather loosens on rainy days and tightens on sunny days, but the old conga head doesn't change much. It must be at the end of its life.

Pearl's early fiber congas are super cheap, but that's because the head size is different from the current ones. I thought this one would somehow fit, but it was about 5 mm short.

So I resorted to a familiar strategy in my house: soaking the rawhide in water to soften it, replacing the hoops, and then reattaching it. It's a very tedious job.

After removing the head, I gave the body a light wipe-down. Unlike wood, it is resistant to moisture, so this is easy.
