"Congas smeared with Vaseline"

The larger head of a Pearl that is as old as a fossil. It seems that it has never been replaced. Apparently old heads lose their oils, so they are cared for by smearing shea butter or similar. It seems that any oil will do, so I tried smearing it with Vaseline, which I'm used to using. What do you think? Is Vaseline an oil in the first place?

化石のように古いPearlの大きい方のヘッド。たぶん一度も交換されていないと思われる。古いヘッドは脂分が抜けるそうでシアバターなどを塗って手入れするらしい。油ではなんでも良いらしいので手慣れているワセリンを塗ってみた。どうなのか。そもそもワセリンは油なのか。
